Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 June 2026
Nokwazi (“we”, “us”) is a personal money-management tool. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
- Account info — if you create an account: your email address, a display name (optional), and an encrypted password.
- App data — your jars, transactions, and recurring items that you enter. We never connect to your bank.
- Usage events — anonymous product metrics (e.g. that an income was added) so we can improve the app. We do not log amounts.
How we use it
- To run the app and sync your jars across your devices.
- To improve features, fix bugs, and prioritise what to build next.
- To send essential account emails (password reset, security).
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for credit decisions.
Where it lives
Data is stored on managed infrastructure in EU/US data centres operated by our hosting provider. We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.
Your POPIA rights
You have the right to:
- Access a copy of your data (use “Save backup” under Tools).
- Correct or update inaccurate data (edit it in the app).
- Delete your account and data by emailing us at hello@nokwazi.com.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal data within 30 days (backups may persist up to 90 days).
Children
Nokwazi is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
We’ll post any changes to this page and update the “last updated” date.
